Angola, what's up!? - click here to watch the music video

The music video for this song stopped me in my tracks. Well actually....the number of views on this video made me click, but the video's storyline kept me hooked. The second the song started, I was DANCING. The sharp contrast between the rigid, military-inspired concept and the utra fluid, rhythmic choreography threw me for a loop. Pardon me for not knowing what Angola had in the bag. I'm hip now, and I'm excited to learn more.

The official music video has 7.7 million views, which brings me to my next point. Music videos are alive & well for artists across the African continent. When I see a recently released music video from an African artist, I immediately check the views. Millions. Almost always. Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, Senegal, DRC, South Africa. They are reaching their fans & wider audiences through creative, compelling visuals.

It's a stark difference from how the U.S. has shifted away from the art form. Whether it's labels being reluctant to invest in videos,  music platforms downsizing their video departments, or audiences preferring to simply stream songs, I've grown used to seeing music videos take a backseat on most occasions.

But globally, that is NOT the case. YouTube, I tip my hat to you. Via YouTube, artists have been maximizing creativity, discovery, and connection worldwide. As a result, YouTube is the place to go when you want to find what people are truly interested in. If you don't know where to begin, go to charts.youtube.com and start clicking random locations. You'll see what's loved in various regions.

Hi, thanks for visiting Sincerely Latifah! Hopefully, you've already found something that interests you.

These topics certainly interest me. And that's precisely why this site is here. I'm that person who can't let a question linger in my mind for too long. I have to dig and find out more information. Usually, that leads to more questions -- and that's perfectly fine! What's not fine is leaving these discoveries to myself.
